Kaleidoscope is Aylward Primary School’s specialist Additionally Resourced Mainstream School (ARMS) provision, supporting pupils whose primary area of need is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our aim is to provide a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment where every child is supported to learn, communicate, develop independence and thrive. Pupils accessing Kaleidoscope remain an important part of the wider Aylward community and access mainstream learning and experiences alongside their peers, according to their individual strengths and needs. Through personalised provision, adapted teaching, visual and communication support, sensory regulation opportunities and targeted interventions, we work towards the outcomes identified within each child’s EHCP. We place a strong emphasis on developing communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, independence and life skills, while celebrating each child’s individual strengths and achievements. Close partnership with families, school staff and external professionals ensures that provision is regularly reviewed and responsive to each pupil’s needs, helping every child to feel that they belong, participate and succeed at Aylward.
