Aylward is part of the Bentley Wood Academy Trust.
Academies are state-funded schools, which receive their funding directly from central government, rather than through a local authority.
The day-to-day running of the school is with the head teacher, but they are overseen by individual charitable bodies called academy trusts. These trusts provide advice, support, expertise and a strategic overview.
Academy Trusts control their own admissions process and have more freedom than other schools to innovate.
At Aylward we have the advantage of working closely with Bentley Wood High School which enables us to share expertise and resources.
