Supporting your child in Maths

Below are videos created by our teachers to demonstrate written methods used in their year group.

We hope the videos help you support your child.

Please remember that they were created by teachers.

Over the years we aim to cover other areas of the Maths curriculum as well as improving the quality of our films each time.

The current curriculum uses the column heading ones instead of units. The earlier videos created often use units.

There will be some more videos added soon for missing year groups.

When using the number line, some children will jump on the 4 lots of 6 as one. However, many will start by breaking that down into four separate jumps.
Year 4 continue to use number lines and know facts (as shown above in Y3) to solve 3 digit divided by a 1 digit problems. They also continue to develop short division moving from 2 digit divided by a 1 digit, to use of a 3 digit number (an example of short division is shown below).
